Currently FreshwaterLife's main collaborators are, Manchester University, King's College London and JISC. FreshwaterLife works closely with these organisations on development of semantic tools and digital repositories and data curation.

FreshwaterLife also benefits from the collaboration with and support from a number of different organisations including Environment Agency for England and Wales, Environment & Heritage Service Northern Ireland, Syngenta, Pond Conservation and WWF-UK. FreshwaterLife works with the UN Food and Agriculture Organisation, UNESCO, UNEP-WCMC and IUCN, FishBase (WorldFish), Expert Centre for Taxonomic Identification, Lucid, MarLIN, Woodshole Institute.

FreshwaterLife (via the FBA) is a member of the Global Biodiversity Information Facility (GBIF), European Network for Biodiversity Information (ENBI) and the UK National Biodiversity Network (NBN).
